Park at your door. Actually at your door.
This motel was built in 1962 around one idea: you pull the car up to your own front door. Sixty-something years on, that is still exactly how it works.
How the place is arranged.
Twenty-two rooms in a single row, all on the ground. A bay outside each door. The pool and the parkland behind, and a separate service road along the boundary for anything that won’t fit under the awning.
Parking, in detail.
Free, and outside your door
Most rooms have a bay directly in front, under the awning. You unload once, at the door, and the car stays where you can see it.2.8 metres in the main car park
We state it plainly so you know before you turn in off Maitland Road, not after. Anything taller uses the service road. The service road takes the big stuff
Buses, trucks, trailers and caravans. Ring ahead on the way and we’ll have a spot picked out for you.

There is no multi-storey car park here, no lift, and no walk from a distant bay with a bag over your shoulder. The awning runs the length of the row, so you unload out of the weather.
If you’re driving something big, ring ahead. It takes five seconds on the phone and saves a three-point turn on Maitland Road.

An outdoor saltwater pool, in the open.
A few steps from the rooms, fenced, with the palms around it. Nothing fancy — it is a motel pool, and on a Newcastle summer afternoon that is exactly what you want.
ConfirmSeasonal opening hours for the pool have not been confirmed. Ring reception and we’ll tell you whether it’s open.

A BBQ, tables and a bit of lawn.
There is a proper parkland area here with tables and chairs under the trees — rare at this price on this road. The motel faces Stevenson Park, so there is green on both sides of the fence.
The BBQ is there for guests to use. Bring something to cook and you have solved dinner without leaving the property, which matters more than it sounds when you’ve been driving since Sydney.
Plainly: the parkland is also the designated smoking area. Every one of the 22 rooms is non-smoking, without exception.

No stairs. None.
All 22 rooms are on the ground floor. There are no stairs, no lift and no internal corridors, and parking is directly outside most doors. For a lot of our guests — people visiting someone at the Mater, people with a bad knee and a heavy bag — that single fact is the reason they book.
Confirm Whether a dedicated accessible or mobility-adapted room exists has not been confirmed. If one does, it belongs here as a full section with door widths and bathroom details — it is a real competitive gap on this road.
